The Celtic Solstice Sacred Oak Tree Of Life Leather Journal
This stunning award-winning heirloom quality journal designed by famed artist Courtney Davis and made by Poetic Earth celebrates the gift of life and the ancient Celtic holiday of Samhain (pronounced sow-when) that honours one’s ancestors and paid respect to friends and loved ones who have passed on to the summer lands. In some circles, it is believed that the spirits of recently departed loved ones linger on at the eldest oak tree nearest to the family home. In ancient times the end of October signalled the beginning of the new year being re-winding and renewing as the leaves of the sacred oak whose trunk you can see on the journal binding turn a magnificent rainbow of colors. Its green vines stretch out in a Celtic knot around the cover symbolizing no beginning and no end. The immortal sun is represented on the back cover by the Triquetta within a circle of life. And of course, there is the Pictish stone which honors the four corners as well as our connection to nature and the seasons as well as to one another. The spiral swirls in the grass symbolize infinity. This is the rarest of treasures that will safeguard your thoughts within its archival quality grade vegetable-tanned leather cover to be passed onward for generations to come. Your thoughts are worth it!
Many hours of intense handcrafting, dying, branding, and painting have gone to create this hand-painted 5×7 inch tome with brass latch. It is the most labour-intensive journal Poetic Earth has to offer. It takes 5 days to finish each color as the cover must be laid out to rest for the night to dry before the next color is meticulously applied with a horse hair brush.
Leather Journal
One-of-a-kind hand-crafted genuine leather journals embossed and tanned using eco-friendly traditional methods. Incredible quality leather that gains character and softness as time passes, a perfect gift for yourself or a loved one that will last forever.
Coptic Bound
The art of Coptic binding is an age-old technique almost 2,000 years old. It remains one of the most durable forms of bookbinding known. Coptic-bound books hold your journal pages far longer than any modern book-binding method. Artists favor this stitching technique, which enables your journal to lay flat when opened, allowing for easier drawing or writing.
Linen-Cotton Parchment
Each Poetic Earth journal has roughly 150 sheets of heirloom quality handmade linen parchment paper that passes the strictest of PH-acidity marker tests. Internally sized with the professional artist in mind for watercolours, fountain pens, pencils, ballpoint pens and just about every type of artistic media. The smooth texture makes this wonderful to write on and its archive-quality manufacturing will ensure that whatever you put in your journal will last a lifetime.
